Ten Operation Attentions of EVA Vacuum Glass Laminating Machine

(Notes: the following knowledge is a general guide, there is no
guarantee that they are all correct or suits your laminating machine.
)

About Machine:
1.
Motor must run positive, if in reverse, it must reconnect the wire.
2.
Adjust the wind ban to make the circle-wind even.
3.
Electricity box must controlled by the experienced operator and when
checking the box, the power must be cut off.
4.
When the temperature of the furnace higher then normal, the operator
cannot go inside the furnace
5.
Must change the oil of vacuum pump time to time. Put the vacuum pump
to the dry and aeration place.

About laminate glass:

6.
Don’t put different thickness of glass into the furnace one time, the
thinner pre-laminated glass needs shorter time of keeping high
temperature, the thicker pre-laminated glass needs longer time of
keeping high temperature.
7.
Different thickness of the color materials needs different thickness
of Ethylene-vinyl acetate EVA Interlayer Film. Thin one can use 0.38
mm EVA film, thick one can use 0.76mmEVA film.

8.
EVA film become soft temperature is 70℃, then 90℃ start thawing, 110℃
reach dissolve estate. When the temperature ca get 130℃ and keep it
40minutes, Ethylene-vinyl acetate EVA Interlayer Film may finish cross
link reaction.

9.
Different thickness of EVA film, the fluidity at high temperature is
different, the thicker film, the fluidity is larger. When you operate
the machine, you can adjust the time and adjust the temperature based
on real situation and your experience.

10.
Try to use good quality float glass to make laminate glass. If you use
tempered glass, but the flat level is bad, you must use thicker
Ethylene-vinyl acetate EVA Interlayer Film to pile up in order to make
the laminated good quality. Bad flat level glass may make air bladder
on the surface of the glass leads to laminated glass with bubbles
inside.

Installation Instruction of EVA Vacuum Glass Laminating Machine

1.
Install control box:
(1)
The control box must be carried by 2 people,use 4 nuts to fix it in
the specified location.
Attention:Vacuum pump is different from blower.
(2)
Electric Control box connection:connect according the signs at[ wire connecting
①] and[ wire connecting②]

Vacuum pump installation:
Connect one side of above ¢9mX18m vacuum pipe to the vacuum pipe
faucet on the table, another side is connected to the vacuum pump air
pump faucet (as picture below)

3.
Orbit installation:
Adjust the two orbits’ height, make it balance to the inside orbit of
the machine, then put the up down car onto the orbit, adjust the width
of the orbit; weld the outside orbit and inside orbit connecting to
make it fixedness. Fix the outside orbit to the floor with screw (as
picture below)

4.
Lift installation:
Waggle the lift toward the “clockwise” direction, lift going up,
waggle the lift backward “clockwise” direction, lift going down.

+80℃ Celsius Degrees Low Temperature Processing
–Because of our patented modification of EVA Film formula, the CNC4SG
EVA Film can activate the cross-link reaction at 80℃ Celsius Degrees.
Due to this low temperature laminating advantage, when laminating
smart glass with CNC4SG EVA FILM, the smart PDLC film is only in the
80℃ Celsius Degrees environment and so can be protected from too high
temperature(other EVA film needs 130℃ to activate cross-link
reaction.)

+Bubbles Problem:
–High bubbles possibility-With Smart Glass Film sandwiched inside two
glasses, the Pre-Laminated Smart Glass is easier to get bubbles than
just laminating two glasses only. This problem has troubled the Smart
Glass manufacturer very much for long time, because Smart Glass Film
is high cost, they can not burden the cost of failure of laminating
processing.

+Bubbles Solutions:
–Advantage 1: Higher Melt-Flow-Rate. The main way we do is that we
specially modify a type of EVA Film for Smart Glass Lamination:
CNC-Force-4SG EVA, which is specially higher in Melt-Flow-Rate to make
the melting EVA Film can fill the glass and smart film surface more
easily and sufficiently to reduce the chance of bubbles. Less bubbles
means higher yield rate. High yield rate means cost reduction of your
lines.

–Advantage 2: Lower Viscosity. Second, we modify the Viscosity of EVA
Film to make the Melting EVA Film can go through and fill the glass
and smart glass film surface concave-convex more easily and
sufficiently to reduce the chance of bubbles. Less bubbles means
higher yield rate. High yield rate means cost reduction of your lines.

(Laminar shear of fluid between two plates. Friction between the fluid
and the moving boundaries causes the fluid to shear. The force

When in long time storage of smart glass film(switchable glass film,
privacy glass film)
, because the smart glass film is made of liquid crystal and polymer,
so the smart glass film(switchable glass film, privacy glass film)
may be decompound by the acid and basicity in the air.

As a experienced GLASS LAMINATION EVA FILM manufacturer in China, we
have been asked many times why the laminated glass is successful when
laminating with EVA Film?
Generally, the laminated glass manufacturer when question that the
quality of EVA FILM is the reason why the laminated glass is
unsuccessful.
But the true is: there are many parameters would cause the failed
laminated glass.
Now, we would like to list them here:

The laminating oven may be the reason that cause the failure of laminated glass.
The processing inappropriate procedure( time and temperature control)
maybe the reason cause the failure of laminated glass with EVA Film.
The basic glass you use, have you clean the surface of the glasses?
The interlayer you put inside the laminated glass; Does it stand high
temperature? Does will do harm to the vacuuming?
The environment of your region. Is the humidity high in your region?

++What People May Think, When They Face Bubbles
When some customers processing laminated glass with EVA INTERLAYER
FILM, bubbles appear inside the laminated glass, People would always
think in this way:

1-The EVA INTERLAYER FILM I ordered last time, didn’t have bubbles
problem, why this time the bubbles is coming out, that’s definitely
the reason of the quality of EVA INTERLAYER FILM.

2-Some customers face this situation. Maybe they don’t use EVA
INTERLAYER FILM very much, so they don’t finish the one roll of EVA
INTERLAYER FILM in a short period. They used two thirds of the roll of
EVA INTERLAYER FILM, and after several weeks, they go back to use the
left part of the roll. But this time the bubbles coming out, they are
very confused. How come the same roll of EVA INTERLAYER FILM has
different quality?

3-Some customer may just change the new EVA INTERLAYER FILM supplier
and the bubbles comes out. Even their new supplier tell them it’s all
about the processing , they would not believe him, they would think
it’s of course the problem of the quality of your EVA INTERLAYER FILM,
because the EVA INTERLAYER FILM of my older supplier don’t have this
bubbles problem.

++General Reasons for Bubbles
Many Laminated glass producers have misconception of the reasons of
the bubbles problems. Here is the real why:

1-First situation: the temperature is too high, maybe more than 160
degree, which will cause the EVA and other compound to break down and
create gas. In this way, it’s just reducing your temperature, and
everything would be fine.

2-Second situation: the temperature in the oven is not average, which
means some part of the glass, is hotter than others. So some part of
the EVA INTERLAYER FILM will melt and finish the cross-link reaction
while other parts of EVA INTERLAYER FILM is still not melted, which
will interrupt the vacuuming and cause the bubbles. For this
situation, we suggest you modified the lamination machine.

3-Third situation: the Vacuum machine is old or the vacuum ability is
not good enough. If the vacuum machine is old, renew it. If the vacuum
ability is not powerful enough, try to buy a new one.

4-Four situation: the air moisture is high. The moisture in the air in
your region is changed, which will easily cause the EVA INTERLAYER
FILM wet when it exposes in the air. Moisture in the EVA INTERLAYER
FILM would cause the bubbles. Although the EVA INTERLAYER FILM is less
sensitive to moisture compared with PVB FILM. But if the moisture of
EVA INTERLAYER FILM is too high, the bubbles will also come out.

Some customer open the packaged of one roll of EVA INTERLAYER FILM,
and don’t use it up at one time. And the left part of the EVA
INTERLAYER FILM will absorb the moisture in the air and cause the
bubbles.

5-Five Situation: Different EVA INTERLAYER FILM supplier has different
formula for EVA INTERLAYER FILM, so if you change the EVA INTERLAYER
FILM supplier, you need to adjusting the processing parameters
according to the supplier’s EVA INTERLAYER FILM property.

++Micro Reasons for Bubbles:
1-The plainness of the tempered glass is bad.

–As you known, tempered glass is less plain than the flat glass. So
you should choose a company that produce better tempered glass.

— Since the tempered glass’s plainness is worse than flat glass, you
should use thicker EVA INTERLAYER FILM for the tempered glass.
Generally speaking, the tempered glass should be laminated with at
least 0.76 mm thickness EVA INTERLAYER FILM.

–Laminate less layers “pre- laminated glass” in a silicon bag at a
time. If you laminate too many layers “pre-laminated glass” in a
silicon bag at one time, the vacuuming would not work perfect and
cause the bubbles.

–If you laminated small pieces “pre-laminated glasses” at the same
time, put the “pre –laminated glasses” on the fabric, which will help
vacuum, and the fabric should cover the vacuum hole to make sure the
vacuum hole is not sealed by the silicone bag itself.

2-Check if the silicon bag is leaking.

–Averagely speaking, a silicon bag can be used for 2 or mare years.
But check the silicon bag if your laminated glasses have bubbles.

–Check the sealing buckle of the edge of the silicon bag is sealed
perfectly when processing laminated glass with EVA INTERLAYER FILM.

3-It’s too early to put the laminating glass out of the oven,
The temperature of laminated glass is still very high and the EVA
INTERLAYER FILM is still melting and reacting. When the laminated
glass is getting cold, the melted EVA INTERLAYER FILM is contracting,
and the EVA INTERLAYER FILM can’t fully fill the gap between two
glasses, so bubbles come out in edges.

4-It’s too early to stop the vacuuming.

And the cross link reaction of the EVA INTERLAYER FILM is not totally
finished and stable. And also the silicon bag would suck same air back
in to the bag, which cause the bubbles. So generally speaking, don’t
stop vacuuming until the temperature of the laminated glass is lower
than 45 degrees.

Notes:Always remember you put the wire net on the vacuuming hole to
make sure the vacuuming is not stop by the laminated glass upon the
hole.

++Case Study: Bubbles of Laminated Glass with EVA INTERLAYER FILM

We have seen a situation in this way: Bubbles comes out in the
Laminated Glass. And we checks all the details of vacuuming and
vacuuming is definitely no problem.
But the bubbles still comes out in the laminated glass. And the
bubbles are regular and on lines.
Finally we realized that the bubble lines are right upon the heating pipes.

So we reduced the temperatures and did the test. Then no bubbles comes
out, but some part of laminated glass is not very transparent.

So we know the reason:
Because the heating pipes are under silicon bag, when laminating
glass, the part of laminated glass right upon the heating pipes are in
higher temperature. And the temperature inside the oven is not in
average.
Remember that when the temperature is too high, the copolymer and
compound will be breaking up and produce gas which would cause bubbles
inside laminated glass.
So It’s better of you can talk to the EVA Glass Lamination Oven
producer to modify the oven.

Reason 1:
The plainness of the glass is not good. If you making tempered
laminated glass, make sure the thickness of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate EVA
film is thick enough.

Reason 2:
The Ethylene Vinyl Acetate EVA film is not melt completely when
processing in the laminating vacuum oven, you need to increase the
temperature or prolong the heating time to make sure Ethylene Vinyl
Acetate EVA Film is melt completely.

Reason 3:
Stop vacuuming too early. Make sure you keep vacuuming always working
in whole procedure of making laminated glass, and only stop the
vacuuming after the temperature is lower than 45 degree C.

Reason 4:
The silicone bag is leaking, so the vacuuming pressure can not reach 0.095MPA.

Reason 5:
Moisture in the surface of glass, Ethylene Vinyl Acetate EVA Film,
decorative interlayers is too much, please dry them before laminating.

Reason 6:
Part of laminated glass is suffering too high temperature, and lead to
the Ethylene Vinyl Acetate EVA Film decompose to gas. Make sure the
heating is well-distributed. And make sure the temperature detector is
working well and get the correct temperature.

Reason 7:
When edging laminated glass, bubbles appear at the edges. Because
edging makes heat, and too much heat causes the bubbles. Please use
more water to cool laminated glass when edging, and edging slowly and
softly if necessary.

DE-LAMINATION:

1-The heating temperature is not high enough or the heating time is
not long enough for the (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM to melt
and react totally, so the cross link reaction is not completely
finished.
For this reason, please increase the heating temperature or prolong
heating time of laminating.

2-The (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM is out of the shelf life,
most (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM’s self life is about one
year or longer. Please use the (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM
within the self life. Yes, different (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER
FILM manufacturers may have different self life for the (GLASS
LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM.

3-Maybe it’s the problem of the quality of the (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA
INTERLAYER FILM. Please do some small sample test, before your mass
production.

4-The moisture of the glass or (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM
is too much. (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM are less sensitive
to moisture, compared to PVB FILM, but if the moisture is too high,
it will do harm to the adhesion of (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER
FILM. Please dry glasses and store (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER
FILM in good way.

5-There is some organic substance on the surface of glasses. For
example oily substance will also do harm to the adhesion of (GLASS
LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM.
Please clean the glasses if necessary. You can use clean water,
industrial alcohol, Acetone to clean the glasses.

6-When laminated with the painting papers (like PP, PVC), the printing
ink is too much and not being dried.
Please dry the printing papers first before laminating with glasses
and (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM.

7-If you found the de-lamination is happening in the edges of the
laminated glass, here is why: Maybe the workers’ hand touch the edges
of the glasses, and there are oily substance in the hand, which will
do harm to the adhesion of the (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER
FILM.Please ask your worker to wear gloves.Maybe its summer, and your
worker work very hard, and their hands are sweaty. And the sweat will
do harm to the (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM.

SELF-EXPOSIING:

1-The laminated glass is cooling too fast. Please do not open the oven
door to help cooling after the temperature of the laminated glass is
lower than 75 degrees.

2-Please avoid the hot laminated glass touching with the cold water.

3-Put some wood blocks between the laminated glasses to make the
cooling is well-proportioned.

4-The quality of the glass is not good, which are easy to expose.
5-The (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM is not eliminated the
internal stress. Good quality (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM
will be eliminated the internal stress to make the (GLASS
LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM less contracting.
If the (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM are not eliminated the
internal stress, then when laminating the glass with (GLASS
LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER FILM, the (GLASS LAMINATING)EVA INTERLAYER
FILM’s internal stress would try to contract to its original state and
cause the laminated glass to expose.

6-The silicon vacuum bag is not clean, which means maybe some block
inside the silicon vacuum bag. So when the pre- laminated glass on the
block and vacuuming is working, the pressure would break the laminated
glass.

+EVA Film:
EVA stands for ethylene vinyl acetate, a copolymer resin used in the
production of laminated glass as the interlayer sandwiched between two
pieces of glass. The main function of the interlayer is to stick the
two piece of glass together, in order to make the sandwiched glass

EVA Film is made out of macromolecule material and it performs
